About Me

Alex is a Director and Writer with a background in Creative Producing; they are based in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

They were one of eight directors selected for the 2021-2022 WIDC Story & Leadership program with their debut feature film, the coming-of-age drama What Comes Next. Until 2021, they worked as a Creative Executive/On-Set Supervising Producer at an international production and distribution company where they oversaw the creation of 12 feature length films in 2 years in both Vancouver and Toronto.

They are an alum of the National Screen Institute, the Whistler Film Festival Talent Labs, and were awarded The Geena Davis Institute Mentorship. In 2019, they were a runner-up in the Women in Film & Television From Our Dark Side Genre Pitch Contest.

Their short film Dear Departed won Best Drama at the Kismet Virtual Film Festival in late 2021.

They have also produced several films award-winning short films including Son in the Barbershop and Last Night which have screened at festivals in North America, Europe, & Asia, including the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, and winning the Judge’s Award at the Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival.
